Thompson, CT – From rumors of no weekly racing, to the worst kept secret in New England, the fastest track in the North East has unveiled plans for the re-opening of it’s road course facility in 2013.
According to the official Facebook page of Thompson, the track will host many sports car clubs, including PCA, BMW, SCCA among others. High performance driving schools will be offered as well.
Last year, Thompson owner Donald Hoenig announced he was putting his grandson, Jonathan, in charge of looking into the feasibility of restoring the historic road course. That talk intensified last fall when rumors began to swirl regarding the future of weekly racing at the 5/8-mile Thompson oval.
However, racing will return to the oval in 2013 and for the foreseeable future, and the road course is set for a spring 2014 opening.
Keep updated on their Facebook page for most information, but this is exciting news for any of the road course fans in New England, and we look forward to seeing what the track will have to offer.
