Durham, ME – The 2013 Nelcar schedule has been released. The 20th season for the popular North East Legends Tour consists of a 27 race schedule across six race tracks, as once again the Nelcar Tour holds one of the most diverse schedules in the area. Once again, all races will hold INEX sanctioning and count towards the US Legends Cars national point standings.

The highlights of the new schedule include a larger presence with the Pro All Stars Series, as the Tour will be running companion events five times over the course of the season at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway and Oxford Plains Speedway. Included in that is the Tour running on one of the biggest stages in all of short track racing, the Oxford 250 weekend on July 20-21. Also included are the season opener and finales for the PASS North Tour.

The schedule however, will start up with the re-opening of Wiscasset Raceway, which was purchased last season by Richard Jordan as he looks to bring the track back to life. The Tour was always a mainstay at the facility and will race at the high banked 3/8th mile four times during the 2013 season.

Another highlight on the schedule is the double weekend with Speedway 95 and the Tour’s first trip to Caribou, Maine’s Spud Speedway for the USA-Canada Legends Car Challenge, June 29-30. This weekend was crafted to help the teams financially as Speedway 95 is right on the ride to Caribou and give the teams the opportunity to race twice in one weekend.

Thursday Thunder is back as well in 2013 as it’s been a mainstay on the Tour for more than a decade as the Legends Cars are the fastest and most competitive division on Thursday nights at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Each of the past three Thursday Thunder championships have been won by different drivers, and Bob Weymouth, Evan Beaulieu and 2012 champion Matt Bourgoine are all slated to return to Thursday Thunder in 2013 and duel for the title.

Star Speedway is the lone New Hampshire track on the schedule with three races at the quarter mile. New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which has had a large chunk of the schedule for the past few seasons, is not on the 2013 schedule. The Speedway Motorsports Inc. owned facility will host a variety of oval and road course races next season, giving more options to all the drivers to race as much as they want.
